I had the pleasure of attending the Petrol Boutique’s 20th Birthday Celebration.
It was a fabulous event with over 300 Brisbane women…a massive crazy sold out event!
I have been a customer of Petrol since about 2001 when I first realised what it was like to buy nice quality clothes. It was the first time I experienced REAL customer service, where you are actualy ’served’ opposed to being delivered a sales pitch.
I can say that shopping experience is exactly the same today - quality product and ‘Top Notch’ SERVICE. Petrol would give even the biggest of retailers a run for their money in the customer service department.
These ladies know what it takes to maintain successful customer relationships and it shows when they host events like this and it is full of clients spanning 20 successful years. Congratulations Petrol, here’s to the next 20! x
Um. How FREAKIN’ CUTE is my friend Alysse Fischer?! I Heart this so much! All done using an iphone! Genius!
Also genius, check out Alysse’s blog on Tumblr.
Inspired by the Rosé revolution tweet up, the Qwoff Boys and the crew at Molly Morgan wines were brave enough to suggest I create another theme song featuring rosé. The brief was ‘rap’. Word.
Love it. What theme will be next I wonder, song about sparkling with a carols tune? Maybe wait until you are in Europe for a more ‘cultured’ influence.
Episode 2: Wine Tasting - The Basics.
This one is for those of you who drink wine and want to get a little more out of the experience. Really simple wine tasting techniques that will help you understand what you’re drinking without looking like a wanker.
Here it is, Episode 1. After much procrastination i’m pretty stoked to get going and start some discussions about wine. So please get involved and let me know what you want to see, hear, learn etc. and we’ll see where this lil project ends up!
This is a great event being held in Brisbane on Wednesday - one for parents or parents-to-be!
Beautiful table setting @tea_coffee again this morning, sooooo pretty! Check them out in hendra asap!
I agree - check them out. Best coffee & a top place to try something new! I say a #tweetup should be held there soon, what say you?
Stephen Fry on online friends and online stupidity (interview by Splashlife)
“There are 20-somethings now who’ve grown up with the internet. It’s natural to them. That’s a heck of a thought, isn’t it?”
The Landmark Australia Tutorial has been happening all week, showcasing the best Australian wine has to offer. It has been an epic event with some of the best wines ever made being poured, I just wish I was there to taste them! I wonder what a ‘55 Grange tastes like?
Luckily, for those of us not able to make it (ie: not invited!) The Qwoff Boys have taken over the internets and have been keeping the punters up to date from behind the scenes. Their blog has a great insight into what’s been happening and what wines are being poured and includes interviews with some of the legends of the Aussie wine industry such as Michael Hill Smith, Tim Kirk and Ed Carr. Check out the Road to Vino episodes too, particularly the interview with Peter Lehmann, a living legend!
The big event however, was the live stream and tweet-up featuring a live interview with Andrew Thomas who spoke of the Semillons coming out of the Hunter, both new and aged. For wino’s who have attention deficit disorder of some kind or other it was a dream come true! There were plenty of top Semillons to try, a live stream of the Qwoff boys and Andrew tasting as well as the twitter #LAT10 stream going ballistic. Tweet-up parties were staged across the nation and around the world (@JetRobins) as people shared stories, opinions and tasting notes on this underrated variety.
Props to Andre and Justin for making the effort and having the vision to bring such an event to the world and embracing this exciting medium. Wine is interactive, social and fun, even on a Wednesday night! The opportunity to taste great wines should not be limited to a small group of industry insiders so thanks for sharing a bit of the good stuff with the rest of us!
Anyway, during the tweet-up the call went out on the live stream for the the best tweet. This lucky punter was going to win a 3 pack of some of the best wines from the tutorials. After hearing Andre say they’d tasted their way through $40,000 worth of wines that day I thought it’d be worth a crack, so I got creative and put out a tweet. After a few more wines I thought it would make a good song (as you do!) and so here it is. My attempt to win 3 bottles of wine! You probably won’t believe it, but i’m a wine drinker, not a singer!
Cheers to Justin, Andre and all who were involved in this live stream and tweet-up, especially the following wineries who sent samples for me to try. Tyrrells, Scarborough, Molly Morgan, Bimbadgen, Two Churches and Andrew Thomas.
Congratulations on an awesome event, looking forward to the next one!
